In July 2022, I was invited to the Washington Media and Journalism Conference (WJMC), an event where aspiring student journalists from across the country come together and learn more about the journalism world in Washington DC. Afterward, I became a member of the 2023 WJMC youth advisory group.
Student Television Network
In 2019, myself with a group of other talented broadcast students, flew to Seattle, WA to compete in the Student Television Network (STN) broadcast competition. There, we competed against other middle and high schools around the country to produce news packages and other videos in a short amount of time. We were also given the opportunity to talk and listen to experienced professionals in the field.
Japan Homestay Program
Palo Alto is known to have "sister cities" around the globe in France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Mexico, the Philippines, and Japan. Through the Neighbors Abroad Program, students in Palo Alto are able to participate in a exchange programs where they are partnered with another student in a sister city and house each other in their respective countries to further their cultural understandings. In the exchange program, I participated as a member, as well as serve as the photographer for that year. At the end of the program, I was tasked with writing up a formal report on everyone's experiences, representing Palo Alto.
