I've designed manuals for AirBnB houses in South Carolina to show guests how to use the amenities as well as a guide for the local area. Depending on the house, the style for the guide differs. The example to the right is for a house that I was asked to give a more elegant style but I've also created a manual asking to give a more homey style, using Yellow Jessamine, South Carolina's state flower, as the central theme.
The guides include check in and check out information, wifi and tv instructions, an infographic for trash and recycling, local restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores to ensure guests feel at home.
As a member of my high school's newspaper, I helped come up with and create layouts for our stories. To the right are a few examples of the spreads I have designed in Adobe InDesign.
Typically our publication sticks with a specific style similar to that of a professional newspaper but creativity is still a huge part of the process, grabbing the attention of our readers. For more serious stories, the format is meant to stay consistent but occasionally a story will come along, like our staff sports series where members of The Oracle Staff try out a new school sport, and the format and writing style can be a little more free. I would recommend giving some of our stories a read at gunnoracle.com.
As the chief communications manager for a non profit organization called Project ROPEs, I helped to manage their social media accounts, occasionally making posts like these for announcements and general infographics. Recently we have decided to stray farther away from social media as our goal is focused to more local middle schoolers, but my responsibilities still include outreaching and maintaining a positive relationship. I also am in charge of taking promotional photos for our website.
